We use a small number of cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function. These include session tokens for Finprints (Firebase Authentication) and theme preference (light/dark mode).

Embedded content

Blog posts may embed YouTube videos. YouTube sets its own cookies when you play a video. We use the privacy-enhanced embed mode (youtube-nocookie.com) where possible to limit tracking.

Analytics

We use privacy-friendly analytics that do not set tracking cookies and do not build advertising profiles.

Local storage

Finprints stores map display preferences (color mode and base color) in your browser's local storage. It also keeps a recovery copy of your footprints on this device so a temporary cloud sync failure does not wipe the map after a refresh. That copy is your own map data for the signed-in account, stays on your device, and is not used for advertising. Clearing site data in the browser removes it.

Managing cookies

You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out of Finprints and reset display preferences.
