What we collect

Blog visitors: No personal data is collected when you read blog posts. We use privacy-friendly analytics (no cross-site tracking, no advertising profiles).

Finprints users: If you create an account on Finprints, we store your email, display name, and the locations and dive logs you add. Data is kept in Google Firebase (Firestore) and scoped to your user ID. The Finprints app also keeps a recovery copy of your footprints in your browser's local storage so temporary sync failures do not erase the map after a refresh. That copy stays on your device until you clear site data or delete your footprints.

Public embeds

If you enable the public embed in Finprints, sanitised copies of your locations (name, country, coordinates) are stored in a public collection. Private dive-log details (buddy, notes, depth) are never shared.

Third-party services

  • Firebase Authentication and Firestore (Google)
  • Stripe (payment processing for Finprints Pro)
  • YouTube embedded videos (Google)
  • Vercel hosting and analytics

Payments

If you subscribe to Finprints Pro, Stripe processes the payment. We store your Stripe customer and subscription ids with your Firebase user id so we can apply plan limits. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

Your rights

You can export all your data from Finprints at any time using the JSON/GeoJSON export. You can delete your account and all associated data from the Map & data panel.
